Description Chumby One Internet alarm clock
What looks like an alarm clock is actually much more than that! It's your little window to the world and to everything fun on the Internet.
The makers of Chumby are pursuing the idea of making everything that is fun on the Internet accessible without a computer - because the computer is always somehow connected with work.
But you don't need a desk for Chumby! It is so small that you can set it up anywhere and use it from the sofa or in the kitchen.
So how does the Internet get onto the Chumby's screen? It works in a similar way to a smartphone. On the Chumby website has over 1500 apps in 30 categories, all of which are free. All you have to do is create an account on Chumby.com, download the right app to your Chumby and you will then always receive the latest information on your favorite topics. You can follow the weather forecast or sports results, watch eBay auctions, receive news feeds and podcasts and keep up to date with Facebook and YouTube!
The Chumby is also very easy to use, as it has a touchscreen that can be operated with your fingers or a stylus (not included)! To match the alarm clock look, the Chumby also has a snooze/menu button and a wheel on the side to adjust the volume. Of course, there are also various alarm clock apps for Chumby, which you can use to create your own individual alarm clock.
Other features of the Chumby include the 3-axis motion sensor, which is used in many gaming apps, the USB 2.0 port (e.g. for USB-to-Ethernet adapters), the radio antenna cable, the stereo headphone output and the 2W loudspeaker.
Further technical details:
The Chumby's monitor is a 3.5-inch color touchscreen. Chumby also contains a 454Mhz processor, 64MB DDR SD-RAM and a micro SD card with the firmware.
Power is supplied via an AC socket adapter. Alternatively, the Chumby can also be operated with a lithium-ion battery (FujiFilm NP-120 or similar), which is not included in the scope of delivery.
The Internet connection is via WiFi (802/11 b/g), for which you need a WLAN router, as Chumby requires a constant Internet connection.
Chumby's menu navigation is in English, but contains many language-independent symbols (see photo). The first steps are also described in German in the instructions.
With the Chumby, you can use the Internet anywhere in your home in future - completely individually with your favorite apps and without having to sit down at the computer!
