Most people associate different symbols or gestures with different fingers. Many years after sealing your first promise with interlocked pinky fingers, the next finger might come into play. On that finger, you symbolically wear the engagement ring as a promise to marry someone. And in between, you can always make use of the other fingers... and thereby risk being misunderstood in other countries.
Gamers prefer to use their fingers less symbolically and more practically, for navigating through virtual worlds. But that too is not without risk, because if the fingers have been in the same position on the keyboard for a few hours, the gamer hand easily becomes the gamer claw. ;)
