Our Fair Geekwear Promise

All our designs bearing the Fair Geek Wear logo are printed on shirts made from fairly traded organic cotton and under fair working conditions.

This means that you are doing something good for the environment, the cotton farmers and factory workers (spinners, weavers, seamstresses) and their families, as well as yourself. :)

• The T-shirts are made from organic cotton produced in India, which is inspected and certified according to GOTS. The GOTS seal identifies organically produced textiles made from natural fibers and corresponds to the world's leading standard.
• The production of cotton consumes a lot of water, 20,000 liters for one kilogram. That is why the plantations and factories are only located in areas where 95% of the water requirement can be met by monsoon rains.
• No pesticides are used in the cultivation of the cotton. The dyes used are also free from harmful chemicals. Additives such as toxic heavy metals, problematic aromas in solvents and genetically modified organisms are prohibited.

• No child labor: There are increased controls to ensure that no children work in the factories.
• Fair working conditions: Every worker is paid a minimum wage that is high enough to cover a family's living costs without the children having to earn too. The maximum working time per day is eight hours with a maximum of 6 working days per week.
• Fair social benefits: Every worker is entitled to pension payments, social security, continued payment of wages and severance pay.
  Of course, safety and hygiene in the workplace are also guaranteed, e.g. chemicals that are harmful to workers are prohibited.
